Air Filters
Air filter is used to filter the air in the engine to avoid harmful
substance from being sucked in, including dust, soot, smog,
pollen and other pollutants. If these substances enter the
engine, it will increase the abrasion between the piston and
the cylinder and lead to fuel to be mixed into the combustion
chamber, thus increasing the engine fuel consumption
and exhaust emissions, decreasing the engine power and
shortening its service life.
When driving a certain mileage, a large amount of dust and
impurities will accumulate the surface of the air filter, resulting
in a decline in air permeability, therefore, the air filter must be
replaced regularly.

Structure of Single Element Air Filters for Heavy Duty Vehicles
1. End caps:
it consists of a top cap and a bottom cap to combine the filter element together.
(1) Metal end caps: provided with a gasket
(2) PP plastic end cap
(3) Polyurethane (PU) end cover:
high strength polyurethane structure, with better adhesion and sealing.
2. Inner support tube: It plays a role of supporting the Filter media and improving
the stability of the Filter media. There are main three types:
(1) Perforated tubes
(2) Expanded metal mesh
(3) Plastic tube (generally used with PP end caps and PU end caps)
3. Filter media: high filtration efficient, pleated filter paper;
regular folding space creates a higher dirt holding capacity.
4. Optional additional reinforcement layer: Provide additional reinforcement to the
pleated filter paper. There are three main types:
(1) Beading stabilises the media and prevents pleat wear.
(2) Plastisol spiral winding fixation
(3) Filament spiral winding
5. Optional outer support tube: perforated metal mesh or expanded metal mesh
is employed to reinforce and protect the filter media, making its structure more stable forming.
Structure of Dual Element Air Filters for Heavy Duty Vehicles
1. Primary filter: It is used to remove impurities from the airflow entering the
absorption process and plays the most important role in the air filtration. It can
filter particles smaller than the dust collection filter.
(1) Top & bottom caps: metal end caps (with seal gasket) or PU end caps.
(2) Inner support tube
(3) Filter media: pleated filter paper.
(4) Outer support tube: expanded metal mesh
2. Secondary filter: also known as inner filter.
(1) Top & bottom caps: metal end caps (with seal gasket) or PU end caps.
(2) Filter media:
