Oil Filters

Oil filter is used to remove impurities such as dust, metal particles, carbon deposits and soot particles from engine oil and deliver clean oil to each lubrication part to protect the engine.


Oil filters are divided into: eco-friendly oil filters, metal oil filters and spin-on oil filters.

Structure of Eco-Friendly Oil Filters


Eco-friendly oil filter generally consists of a top cap, a bottom 
cap, a layer of filter media and an inner support tube. When 
replacing the oil filter, only the filter element needs to be 
replaced.

1. End caps: It consists of a top cap and a bottom cap. Generally, plastic end caps, non-woven fabric end caps and a 
combination of plastic and non-woven fabric end caps are 
provided.

2. Filter media: Pleated filter paper is used to remove impurities from the oil.

3. Optional parts: The plastic inner tube serves as the inner 
  support tube. Some eco-friendly oil filters are provided with 
  an inner tube in the center. While the others are not provided with an inner tube in the center, instead, the inner tube is integrated with end cap.

Metal Oil Filters


Metal oil filter generally consists of a top cap, a bottom cap, a 
layer of filter media, an inner support tube and an optional outer support tube. When replacing the metal oil filter, only the filter element needs to be replaced.

1. Metal end caps: It consists of a top cap and a end cap to 
 connect the filter element together.

2. Filter media: Pleated filter paper is used to filter out impurities in the engine oil.

3. Inner support tube: perforated metal tube is generally 
 selected as the inner support tube of the filter element.

4. Optional outer support tube: Used to support and protect the filter element, it is generally made of perforated metal mesh. In addition, expanded metal mesh is also a good choice for outer support tube.

Structure of Spin-On Oil Filters


Spin-on oil filter consists of a metal shell, a spring, a bypass valve, a filter element, an anti-drainback valve, a cover plate and a seal ring. When replacing the spin-on oil filter, the oil filter needs to be replaced as a whole.

1.Metal shell: A container used for spin-on oil filters to accommodate the filter element and maintain pressure operation

2. Spring: Used to hold the filter element in place and secure it onto the metal shell to allow it can compress and rebound under extreme pressure.

3. Bypass valve (pressure relief valve): Installed on the filter element, it will automatically open to allow the oil flowing through when the filter element is clogged and the oil pressure reaches 100 kPa ± 20 kPa.

4. Metal end caps: It consists of a top cap and a end cap to connect the filter element together.

5. Spiral perforated support tube: The center tube that supports the filter media and prevents it from collapsing, it allows the oil to flow through the filter media freely. Without the inner tube, the filter media cannot withstand the engine cold start and the increased differential pressure.

6. Filter media: Cured pleated filter paper is used to add strength to the filter media. Curing occurs when the filter media is in a flat, pleated state to ensure consistent and even curing, thereby offering a high efficient oil impurities filtration.

7. Anti-drainback valve: When the car stalled, it can prevent oil from flowing back. When the engine starts cold, it ensures that the oil pressure can be formed in the lubrication system as soon as possible to ensure oil supply and shorten the period of engine dry grinding.

8. Shell threaded cover plate: Used to seal the filter element into the shell, prevent the gasket sealing surface from deflecting (moving) and provide a strong threaded connection to the engine.

9. Rubber seal ring: Made of silicone, it ensures a tight connection between the oil filter and the engine block to resist changing pressure and mechanical loads, and no leakage occurs even at extreme temperatures.
